Offering hospitalized children a safe and friendly living environment
Hospitals are often thought of as cold and frightening places. They are all the more so for children who are hospitalized for long periods of time and who are separated from their families and their usual surroundings. The Children's Home is a specific space, set up within the children's hospital, whose aim is to improve the daily lives of young patients and help them get through their illness as best they can. The space is designed to bring warmth and a playful dimension to the hospital.
The Foundation designs the space, its layout and provides the equipment necessary for its operation, in accordance with care requirements. Management is entrusted to a partner association, usually made up by the parents of sick children. It is in charge of welcoming, assisting and providing multidisciplinary care to young patients. The association serves as a link between healthcare professionals, teachers and parents.
Providing fulfilling artistic and educational activities
The Children's Home offers a wide range of learning and artistic activities, supervised by specialized educators.
Individual tutoring is provided to the children by teaching staff trained in the psychology of the sick child.
The Children's Home also organizes several recreational and educational workshops: photography, multimedia, music, visual arts, film screenings, shows... Kids are introduced to a wide variety of fun and educational activities. Musicians, craftspeople and artists also come in for special events as well as to engage with young patients.
